I cannot end the year without acknowledging the life of Nelson "Mandiba" Mandela.

Go to your local library and check this book out! For some reason, people are more interesting when they pass away.

The struggle continues......

Have a wonderful 2014 beginning!

Do something awesome!

Plan a slamming vacation!

Create a fantastic meal!

As the year end approaches, I feel somewhat content even though I haven't used my passport ALL year! However, I have been blessed with local projects such as graduate school, planning a winter concert for my church and coordinating a family reunion that is scheduled for 2015.

I had to tie my saddle down in order to keep an eye on my aging parents and pay for tuition. Maybe a mission trip abroad will bless me in 2014!

Local Trip to Sweetie Pies!

Well, it looks like I'm in the U.S. for now! I'm excited about organizing a local trip to St Louis in Sept. I hope others will see the passion of just "going".
We will charter a bus and travel to St. Louis and enjoy a one day of fun for lunch at Sweetie Pies!
Why Sweetie Pies? This business have been exposed by the OWN Network and the soul-food is a delight to one's soul searching palate.
Lunch at Sweetie Pies will be a mindless get-away for those who just want a break from driving. They will board a bus and have the opportunity to do absolutely NOTHING!

Well hello blog world!

I has been months since I've blogged! Shame on me! Between working, scrabbling, bike riding, I have failed to just stop and write! Traveling abroad remains my mission but I have been side tracked and stuck with local road trips for family reunions etc. Not that I don't appreciate a "roadtrip" in the good ole USA but when Amerikkka pisses me off, I'd rather go somewhere else to breathe!

I recently watched this documentary entitled "Black with no Borders". It was such a relief to see so many Blacks transfer and start businesses in South Africa. And most are doing fairly well within their fields as well as merging and learning about South African culture. Man, that would be idea for me except, I haven't started a business yet! I find myself always getting stuck in a blessed kind of way.

Anyway, if you can go somewhere and lend a hand, I commend you. Its so meaningful and enriching to help others and put sociology to use.

I had the opportunity to work with an anthropologist over the summer who is now working in the Amazon in Brazil. What an interesting task for this young man. I hope to hear from him soon.

Enjoy your summer!

Chinua Achebe

I recently read this book and found it very informative of the civil wars in the 60s in Nigeria.

New dance craze out of Ghana! But spreading all over!

Please open your heart and wallets and consider helping organizations that help families who reside in the Congo. (Run for Congo.org)

Pray for their deliverance.

Civil wars are heartbreaking. Soldiers are recruiting children and raping the women!

I'm so proud of my friends who have opened their heart to Africa. 1 continues to run in races for the Women of the Congo. Another friend has assisted with a music program for girls in Kenya. And last, one of my good friends is spearheading a mission trip to Ghana!

Go women of GOD!!!

I've been so busy tweeting and fundraising that I forgot to blog! I'm always talking about Africa and watching   African music videos and viewing Bollywood films. This culture is so rich in culture who wouldn't put any place in Africa on their "bucket list".
So, my travel agent call me with a deal to South Africa. I'm really trying to gather my down payment and just "do it". I'll keep you posted. I have to see this place!

ST Thomas. The Caribbean have always been a nearby delight to indulge in. In this New Year, it is my dream, along with friends to visit Cape Town. Join me. God's Earth is huge. Why not marvel while we are able to?
