Africa is the heart of the continents. Human history began in the Motherland. This continent set the stage for rulers and kingdoms to thrive. This organization believes that visiting the continent of Africa will enrich, engage, and cultivate people from all walks of life. One way to alleviate the concept of ungratefulness is to see how folks hunger for work, education, food and healthcare abroad.

Well hello Blog! I was so passionate about sharing Senegal with friends, family & would be clients that I didn't totally think about cost! It is expensive to travel to Africa these days. When I went in '03 the price was a comfortable $2300. Now, its out the window. However, I always believed that people who value vacation would not debate cost. I know it will be a challenge to get folks to see Senegal before the world turns worst (financial/wars/famine). I haven't given up as of yet but it was brought to my attention that cost may deter people from venturing to Africa. I wanted to meet a friend of mine in Rwanda to complete some volunteer work but the numbers were frightening!

I was having dinner with family and friends and the subject of helping those abroad almost became a brawl! One rebuttal was that charity began at home! Seriously!!! The 'home front' has government programs and resources to aid one's 'uncomfortable' situation. My thoughts and comments were that the people abroad do not have access, and there is no 'foodstamp' program and some are victims of war and need our help! Missionaries can do so much. The continent is so huge that all regions can't be assisted all at once. It's our duty! My solution, if people have the resources you can help those in your backyard as well as people abroad! Just don't disregard them.

Why Africa? Why not? For someone who grew up with awesome parents and amazing siblings, there remained a tad bit of unnecessary selfishness on the inside. I knew all of my life the art of giving and its rewards, however, the idea did not come full circle until I visited Ghana, Africa. That particular journey resurrected my giving spirit. The people of Ghana were kind and very hospitable. We attended worship service, visited schools, dined in local restaurants and lodged at 4star properties.
Being a person of color, I believe that all people should want to visit Africa. Whether its touring Egypt to marvel at the pyramids or South Africa to gaze inside of the prison where Mandela was jailed for fighting for civil rights. It's human history! I'm often disappointed when I hear people say that they have no interest in trekking to Africa. But, then they're so passionate about visiting Italy! I'm not against visiting Italy and its on my 'to do' list but good grief! You're not Italian or Catholic!
Indeed, I also believe that christians should want to visit Israel where our Lord walked and prayed. But again, I hear the negative comments about the lack of interest of visiting Jerusalem.
This blog is all about encouraging the human spirit to 'undo' the trained psyche and to get excited about something new. An African quote says 'If you don't go, you don't know'! And I want you to be in 'the know'!
